The 16th International Conference of Stereology and Image Analysis (ICSIA-2023) will be held at Shaanxi Guest House, Xi'an City, P. R. China, from October 27 to October 30, 2023. It is the 16th quadrennial Congress of the International Society for Stereology and Image Analysis (ISSIA).


ISSIA is an international scientific society aiming to promote stereology and image analysis in a wide range of disciplines. The purpose of the ISSIA is to promote the exchange and dissemination of information on stereology amongst persons of various scientific disciplines and countries.

The members of ISSIA are coming from many different fields of science such as mathematics, biomedicine, computer science, material science, statistics, geology, stochastic geometry, etc. A main concern of the ISSIA is the practical applications of stereology in Imaging Technique, Image Analysis and Processing, Stochastic Geometry, Mathematical Morphology, Pattern Recognition, Fractal Geometry and other fields.

The aims of the ICSIA-2023 is to bring together leading scientists working with the development and application of recent stereological methods and image analysis.

The congress program will include Keynote Speakers, Invited Lectures, Contributed Talks and Posters.

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that present original unpublished research in all areas of stereology or image analysis. Work focusing on emerging methods and applications is especially welcome.

General Instructions for papers/abstracts

Papers should report original research relevant to stereology or image analysis and contain enough background materials to make them easily accessible to the entire research community. Contributions should be original unpublished research. All papers/abstracts will be submitted for peer review.

Accepted full papers will be recommended for publication in Chinese Journal of Stereology and Image Analysis or in Image Analysis & Stereology.

The Congress Proceedings containing the accepted papers/abstracts will be distributed to each attendee at the congress.


Authors of poster will be invited to provide an abstract with no more than two pages for the Congress Proceedings. The size of a poster is 1.5 m × 0.95 m. If you are assigned to give a poster presentation, please bring the poster to organizer directly. 

Language and Templates

Papers/Abstracts must be English and formatted in the standard conference proceedings layout on A4 paper. Word Templates can be downloaded here. Please make sure that you choose the correct files and settings for an A4 congress proceeding. Contributions must be submitted in PDF or WORD format.
